2021 MG ZS EV – What will be new?

Well, the details regarding updates are limited at the moment but it is likely to get an upgraded battery pack with improved last-mile range and more features over the current model.

As of now, the ZS EV comes with a 44.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack coupled to a 143PS electric motor that is capable of generating 353Nm of peak torque. It offers a driving range of 340km and comes with a 50kW DC fast charging capability that can juice the battery up to 80% in just 50 minutes. The brand offers a 7.4kWh AC wall box charger standard with this electric SUV that takes 6 to 8 hours to charge the vehicle fully. It can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 8.5 seconds.

In terms of design, we don't expect any changes. On the features front, the 2021 iteration of the ZS EV is expected to get an updated i-Smart connected car technology with Hinglish voice commands compatibility similar to the Hector SUV. It could also get a 360-degree camera for added convenience. Besides this, it will retain all features of the existing model that mainly include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, a PM2.5 air filter, rain-sensing wipers, dual-pane sunroof, 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, an electric parking brake, hill start assist, hill descent assist, tire pressure monitoring system, ESP, and three levels of the regenerative braking system.

Prices are likely to go up

Currently, MG offers the ZS EV in two trims: Excite and Exclusive, priced at Rs 20.88 lakh and Rs 23.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. Expect the 2021 model to carry a premium over the existing model. Once launched, it will continue to rival the Hyundai Kona Electric.
