Upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser Likely To Be Called Super Meteor

Royal Enfield is gearing up to launch its highly awaited 650cc cruiser motorcycle that could be revealed at this year’s Milan Motorcycle Shows that is scheduled to be held from 25th to 28th November 2021. While the brand is yet to reveal its official name, reports are suggesting that it could be known as 'Super Meteor' – an iconic nameplate from its rich history of 120 years.

Upcoming Royal Enfield motorcycles

For those who aren't aware, the Royal Enfield has used this moniker in the early 50s for its 700cc cruiser motorcycle in America. So, the Super Meteor nameplate seems quite appropriate for the upcoming RE considering the fact that it will be placed above the Meteor 350 in the brand's cruiser lineup.

Earlier, the Royal Enfield has also trademarked the ‘Shotgun’ and ‘Roadster’ nomenclatures in India. However, the brand is unlikely to use the Roadster name as Harley Davidson is already selling a cruiser by the same name in the international market.

Talking about its styling, it will flaunt a retro design with round headlamps with a chrome bezel, a tear-drop fuel tank, split-style seats, round taillights, and twin peashooter exhausts. It will also get upright riding egos thanks to the rear-swept handlebar and forward-set footpegs. The bike will ride on alloy wheels shod with single-disc brakes at both ends. Suspension duties will be taken care of by USD forks up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Furthermore, the exhaust sound of this upcoming cruiser also seems quite tempting.

In terms of features, the RE Super Meteor 650 should get the latest delicacies like an all-LED lighting system, fully-digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth-based navigation system, dual-channel ABS, and more.

The Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser is likely to be powered by the same 649cc parallel-twin engine as the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. Mated to a 6-speed transmission accompanied by a slipper clutch, this mill churns out 47PS and 52Nm.

Since it will be Royal Enfield's flagship offering, it will be the most expensive bike in its entire portfolio. However, it is expected to be priced competitively against its rivals.
