Toyota Hyryder Launched In India, Strong Hybrid’s Prices Revealed

Today, on the occasion of World EV Day, Toyota has launched its first mass-market strong-hybrid mid-size SUV in India, the Hyryder. Jointly developed with Suzuki, the Toyota Hyryder will be available in four trims and two engine options. Here’s a look at their prices: –

  • As for now, prices of only select variants have been announced.
  • Except for the base-spec E trim, all the variants are available with both mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid powertrain options.
  • The entry-level Toyota Hybrid S Strong-Hybrid variant undercuts the Honda City Hybrid (Rs 19.89 lakh) by Rs 4.78 lakh, making it India’s most affordable car with a strong-hybrid powertrain.
  • Prices for the mild-hybrid variants will be revealed by the end of this month or by the first week of October. 

Talking about the engine specs, the Suzuki sourced 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, K-series petrol engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid tech, generates a maximum power putout of 103PS and a peak torque of 135Nm. It can be had with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It also gets the segment’s first all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

The biggest highlight of Toyota Hyryder is its 1.5-liter TNGA petrol engine linked with a self-charging strong hybrid system that can run the SUV in pure EV mode as well. It gets a single-speed e-CVT transmission and claims to offer a fuel efficiency of 27.97kmpl.

Talking about the features, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder comes loaded with a plethora of premium equipment, such as an all-LED lighting system, 17-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, heads-up display (HUD), 360-degree camera, a 9-inch floating infotainment system with wireless smartphone integration through Apple Carplay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charger, up to 6 airbags, ESC and much more.
