Top 10 Selling Cars Of August 2021 – Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Creta, Tata Nexon, Kia Seltos And More

Monthly sales figures for August 2021 are out, and again Maruti Suzuki has maintained its streak of covering most of the places on the list. To be precise, Maruti Suzuki secured six out of ten positions in the list, while the rest of them are from Hyundai Group and Tata Motors.

  • The Maruti Suzuki Nexa Baleno topped the list in August, surpassing the last month's best-seller WagonR by 6,018 units. The premium hatchback also registered a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 45.6 percent. 

  • Despite recording a decline of 8 percent on the YoY graph, Maruti's entry-level Alto hatchback ranks second. 

  • Vitara Brezza was the third best-selling car of August 2021 with sales reaching 12,906 units last month. It saw a significant year-on-year growth of about 87 percent. With this, Vitara Brezza remains the best-selling subcompact SUV in the country.

  • Remaining the best seller for Hyundai, the Creta saw an MoM drop of around 3 percent in August 2021. However, its position in the YoY chart showed an upward trend. 

  • Maruti Swift stood at the fifth position with sales of 12,483 units in August 2021, compared to 14,869 units sold in the same month last year.

  • Maruti's affordable multi-purpose Van, the Eeco, maintains its consistency in the monthly sales. It recorded a YoY growth of 17 percent. 

  • Ranked 7th on the list, the Tata Nexon has overtaken the Hyundai Venue by 1629 units in the sub-4m SUV segment. Tata sold 10,006 units of the SUV. 

  • Maruti Suzuki WagonR slipped to the eighth position from the first one, seeing the highest negative MoM and YoY growth last month.

  • The Kia Seltos was the ninth best-selling car in August with a tally of 8,619 units. 

  • The Hyundai Venue was the tenth best-selling car last month. It marked a modest monthly and annual sales growth of up to 1.85% in August 2021. However, it managed to stay ahead of its close segment rival Kia Sonet despite its increasing demand.
