India’s largest passenger carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, had a very successful year. The brand introduced three new models this year – Fronx, Jimny, and Invicto- and they all became instant hits in the market. And for the upcoming year, the carmaker has already lined up three new models, including its first all-electric vehicle (EV).
The 4th-generation Swift was recently been revealed in Japan and is scheduled for its India launch in the first quarter of 2024.
The new-gen hatch flaunts a refreshed design both inside and outside, along with a host of new features and a new 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated Z-series 3-cylinder powertrain. This new mill is claimed to produce a max output of 82PS/108Nm and return a mileage of 23.40 km. It also gets a mild-hybrid system in Japan, which will offer a slightly better fuel efficiency of 24.50 kmpl. Interestingly, the new Swift in Japan also features Advanced-Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). However, it remains to be seen if its Indian counterpart will also get these driver-assist safety functions. Click here for more details.
The Swift-based sub-4m sedan is also set to undergo a generational change. Expect significant design changes, feature additions and powertrain updates for the sedan, largely in line with its hatchback counterpart.
