MG India is all set to launch the highly-anticipated Astor SUV in the coming weeks, and with each passing day some new information about the upcoming compact SUV is surfacing on the webs. We've now come across that all the variants of the MG Astor will get a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, LED DRLs, rear defogger, and rear washer & wiper as standard features across its entire product lineup. This implies that the brand will be aggressive in terms of vehicle packaging.

Besides, we already know that the MG Astor will also come with personal artificial intelligence (AI) assistant and level-2 ADAS that could be restricted to the higher-spec variants only. While the former will get a robot head-like device placed on top of the dashboard that can even turn to the person interacting with and displays human-like emotions, the latter will include various active safety features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep & departure assist, forward collision warning, high-beam assist, and blind-spot detection.
Apart from these features, it will also get features like full LED projector headlamps, auto climate control, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, etc.
MG Astor is expected to offer the Astor with two petrol engines- 120PS/150Nm 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, paired with either a manual or CVT automatic transmission and a 163PS/230Nm 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol unit that could be mated to a dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). However, its UK-spec version is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (11PS/160Nm), mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Considering the standard set of features, MG is expected to price the Astor from around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in the same group as the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Renault Duster, and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun and 5-seater variants of Mahindra XUV700, which will also get ADAS features at an attractive price tag.
