The Facelifted Volvo XC60 And S90 Launched In India

After a bunch of teasers, Volvo India has finally given the XC60 SUV and S90 sedan a mid-life facelift update. Available in a single ‘B5 Inscription’ variant, both the Swedish cars are priced at Rs 61.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), commanding a premium of Rs 1 lakh over their pre-facelift models.

2021 Volvo XC60 and S90 – What's New?

For 2021, both of these cars have received cosmetic and feature upgrades along with a new petrol-hybrid powertrain.

Starting with the cosmetic front, both XC60 and S90 have received redesigned front grille along with tweaked bumpers at both ends and chrome inserts. In addition, the XC60 also gets a new alloy wheel design.

The cabin of both these cars is more or less the same. However, they have now been equipped with an ‘Advanced Air Cleaner’ system, adaptive cruise control, and Volvo’s latest Android infotainment system that features Google apps, Google Assistant, and Volvo’s ‘Digital Services’ package. Volvo has also offered its dedicated ‘Volvo Cars’ App for features like remote lock/unlock, blind-spot monitoring and charging status, etc.

The facelifted S90 also has got a 360-degree camera, a 19-speaker 1,400W Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system, a massage function for the front seats, and an air suspension setup. Meanwhile, the XC60 gets a 15-speaker, 1,100W Bowers and Wilkins sound system.

The biggest change for the facelifted Volvo S90 and XC60 is beneath their bonnet. Both the models will now be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine (250PS/350Nm), replacing the 2.0-litre diesel engine. This new gasoline mill comes with a 48V mild-hybrid system for torque assist and enhanced fuel efficiency. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard on both models, with the SUV also getting an all-wheel drivetrain.

2021 Volvo XC60 and S90 – Colour Options

Volvo has offered the upgraded S90 comes in four body shades: Crystal White, Bright Silver, Denim Blue, and Onyx Black. On the other hand, the XC60 SUV is available in six colours options: Crystal White Pearl, Onyx Black, Osmium Grey, Pine Grey, Denim Blue, and Fusion Red.

2021 Volvo XC60 and S90 – Rivals

The updated Volvo S90 sedan competes with the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Jaguar XF, and Audi A6, whereas the XC60 SUV goes up against the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3, Lexus NX, and the upcoming Audi Q5 facelift.
