Tata Tiago Production Hits 4 Lakh Units Mark

The production of the Tata Tiago compact hatchback has touched the 4 lakh mark. Recently, the carmaker rolled out the 4,00,000th Tiago from its Sanand facility in Gujarat. With this, it has become the first Tata car to achieve this accomplishment in such a short period of time.

Launched in 2016, the Tata Tiago received a facelift update in 2020 and a CNG powertrain in early 2022. Currently, the Tiago is available in two different body styles: Hatchback and Crossover. The latter is named ”TIAGO NRG” and comes in a sole fully-loaded variant, priced at Rs 6.66 lakh for manual and Rs 7.21 lakh for the AMT version. On the other hand, the standard hatchback comes in six broad trims: XE, XM, XT(O), XT, XZ, and XZ+, priced between Rs 5.23 lakh to Rs 7.68 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).

Powering the Tata Tiago and Tiago NRG is a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine (86PS/113Nm), paired with a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The standard Tiago is also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit (73PS/95Nm), making it a more versatile and exciting choice in the compact hatchback space. And believe us, it won’t let you down in terms of driving dynamics, ride quality, and performance. It’s the most potent CNG car of its category and has the broadest variant spectrum. Click here to read our first driving impressions of the Tata Tiago CNG.

Tata Tiago CNG review

Commenting on this milestone, Mr. Rajan Amba, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Care, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. said, “This is indeed a historic milestone for Tata Motors as Tiago is the first car to complete this milestone in a short span. Tiago has been a key product in our Turnaround 2.0 strategy and since its launch has been successful in grabbing a sizeable market share in the most crowded segment in the auto industry. The Tiago has become the preferred choice for youngsters who are looking for a stylish, feature-loaded, and safe car, with more than 60% of sales generated from first-time buyers. The recent interventions of Tiago NRG and Tiago CNG have gained quite the popularity among prospective buyers. We are confident that the Tata Tiago will continue to play an integral part in our New Forever range and will enhance our market performance in the Indian auto industry.”
