Tata Tiago EV Test Drive Begins

Planning to buy Tata Tiago EV? Well, Tata Motors has finally begun test drives for the newly launched EV after three months of its launch. So now you can experience the EV before putting your money on it. Bookings for the hatch are already underway for a token amount of Rs 21,000, and it has already garnered over 20,000 takers since the company opened the reservation window in October 2022. Its deliveries will also commence soon. However, buyers will have to wait between 2 to 4 months in major metropolitan cities before getting their hands on it.

For those who aren’t aware, the Tata Tiago EV is India’s most affordable electric car that currently ranges between Rs 8.49 lakh and Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The brand offers it in four variants: XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Tech Lux.

Powering the Tiago EV is a permanent magnet synchronous motor, backed by an IP67-rated 24kWh li-ion battery pack in higher-spec variants, offering a claimed range of 315 kilometres on a single charge. On the contrary, the entry-level variants of the hatch get a smaller battery pack of 19.2kWh, which is suitable for around 250 km of range. It also gets two drive modes (City & Eco) and multi-level regenerative braking.

Speaking of the features, Tata has equipped the Tiago EV with LED DRLs, projector headlamps, HARMAN touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car technology, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), cruise control, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, keyless entry, push-button start, dual-airbags, and more. Currently, Tata Tiago EV has no direct rival in the Indian market. However, it will soon face competition from the upcoming Citroen eC3.
