Tata Sierra To Get Petrol Engine; Launch on Nov 25

The iconic Tata Sierra is set to make its comeback in the market next month. It will be launched in the ICE version first on November 25, followed by the electric avatar sometime in 2026. Sources reveal that it will feature the brand’s all-new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol Iteration Incoming

First showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, the upcoming Tata engine is reported to be tested extensively before being introduced in their SUVs. This E20-compliant 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline direct-injection engine is likely to produce 170PS of max power and 280Nm of peak torque. It is expected to be offered only with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). The same engine will also be offered in the Harrier and Safari in the near future. Currently, the Tata Harrier and Safari are available with a sole 170PS/350Nm 2-litre diesel engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic.

The Sierra is also likely to be offered with the brand’s 1.5-litre diesel engine, available in the Nexon and Curvv.

About Tata Sierra

The Tata Sierra was showcased in a near-production avatar at the 2025 Auto Expo, and it stays true to its iconic styling, featuring a boxy silhouette complemented by the signature Alpine window design. However, unlike its predecessor, which was offered in a 3-door avatar, the new Sierra will come as a more practical 5-door version. It will also get modern touches such as slim connected LED DRLs & taillights, and flush door handles for a cleaner and seamless appearance.

Tata Sierra interior

Inside, the Sierra is expected to feature a triple-connected display setup (a first for any Tata), along with an illuminated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone AC, ventilated front seats, JBL sound system, 360-degree camera, and Level-2 ADAS suite.

Expected Price and Rivals

Tata is expected to price the Sierra from Rs 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
