Tata Motors has recently introduced the all-new Punch.ev and commenced its bookings for a token amount of Rs 21,000. The forthcoming EV will be available in five broad trim levels (Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+) and two powertrain options (Standard and Long-Range). For those considering a booking, here’s an overview of its variant-wise powertrain choices: –
Tata Punch.ev | Standard | Long-Range |
Smart | ✅ | ❌ |
Smart+ | ✅ | ❌ |
Adventure | ✅ | ✅ |
Empowered | ✅ | ✅ |
Empowered+ | ✅ | ✅ |
As the above table reveals, the Standard range option will be offered with the entire variant lineup of the Tata Punch.ev, whereas the Long-Range powertrain option will be available from the mid-spec Adventure variant.
While Tata is yet to reveal the powertrain specifications, we expect the Punch.ev’s Standard version may feature the Tigor EV’s 26.5 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of approximately 315 km. On the other hand, its Long-Range could be equipped with Nexon’s 30 kWh unit, boasting a claimed range of over 325 kilometres on a single charge.

Compared to the ICE-powered Tata Punch, its electric counterpart sports a distinct design, especially from the front end, featuring visual similarities with the recently launched facelifted Nexon.ev. It also boasts ten additional features over its regular version. These include: –
- LED projector headlamps
- Leather seats
- 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment
- 10.25-inch digital driver’s display
- Ventilated front seats
- Rear AC vents
- Air purifier
- 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring
- Standard six airbags
- Electronic parking brakes
Expected Price and Rivals
We believe Tata Motors will price the new Punch.ev from around Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it against the Citroen eC3.
