Tata Nexon Diesel To See A Variant Rejig

Tata Motors is constantly updating its most popular offering, Nexon. Recently, the brand has updated the compact-SUV with newly designed diamond-cut alloy wheels, revised its color options, removed physical infotainment buttons from the center console, and launched the ‘AVA Auto’ solution for the voice assistant system supporting Hinglish language. Now, Tata is likely to discontinue a few diesel variants of the Nexon SUV. These include the XE, XMA, XZ, and XZA+ (S) trims. According to a media report by team-bhp, authorized Tata dealerships have already stopped accepting bookings for these variants. However, the brand is yet to make any official announcement regarding the same.

As of now, the Tata Nexon diesel is available in seven trims- XE, XM, XM (S), XZ, XZ+, XZ+ (S), and XZ+ (O), which are further divided into a total of 18 variants, depending on the color & gearbox options. These are priced between Rs 8.50 lakh to Rs 12.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The homegrown maker is also currently offering an exchange bonus of up to Rs 15,000 on the Nexon diesel along with a corporate discount for select employees. Head here for details.

With the discontinuation of the above-mentioned variants, the prices of Nexon diesel will start from Rs 9.49 lakh onwards.

Besides the variants rejig, no other changes are expected for the SUV. It will continue to be powered by the same 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine as the ongoing model, which is good in producing 110PS of maximum power and 260Nm of peak torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT unit. Additionally, Tata also offers the Nexon with a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine (120PS/170Nm). The petrol-powered Nexon retails from Rs 7.20 lakh to Rs 11.46 lakh (ex-showroom).

In other updates, Tata Motors is also planning to launch the HBX concept-based micro SUV in the coming months. Recently, the model was spotted in its production avatar revealing its Harrier-inspired design. It is likely to be a petrol-powered offering only that could borrow its engine options from the Altroz hatchback – 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (86PS/113Nm), and 1.2-litre turbocharged (110PS/140Nm).
