Homegrown carmaker Tata Motors has silently updated the Nexon subcompact SUV in India with minor feature changes. The brand has removed the physical buttons (home, favourites, previous/next, smartphone and back) and volume & tuner knobs from the centre console, which were placed just below the central AC vents. Now, this place will feature 'Nexon' lettering in chrome finish, and these functions have been integrated into the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Besides this, the brand has also removed the ECON button from the left AC knob. With physical buttons, it was easy to access the functions without taking the eyes off the road. Now, the driver would have to look towards the screen.
No other changes have been made to the features list of the car. The top-spec trim of the Nexon continuous to get premium features like 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, automatic projector headlamps with Tri-arrow LED DRLs, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, iRA connected car technology, a digital instrument cluster, a tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, auto AC with rear AC vents Xpress cooling function, smart key with push-button start, electric sunroof with tilt function, flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, and more.
On the other hand, safety features on offer include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, rear parking sensors with camera, etc.
The updated Tata Nexon SUV remains mechanically unchanged. It retains its 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel powertrain with gearbox options including a 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT. While the gasoline motor delivers 120PS and 170Nm, the diesel’s output stands at 110PS and 260Nm. It continues to comes in seven variants – XE, XM, XM (S) / XMA (S), XZ, XZ+/XZA+, XZ+ (S) / XZA+ (S), XZ+ (O)/ XZA+ (O), which are priced between Rs 7.09 lakh and Rs 12.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
