Tata Motors Delivered 101 EVs In Chennai In A Sigle Day

Maintaining supremacy in the EV market, Tata Motors delivered 101 EVs in a single day in Chennai, comprising 70 units of Nexon EVs and 31 Tigor EVs. This is the highest number of electric vehicles delivered ever in a single day in Tamil Nadu. Earlier this month, the homegrown carmaker also handed over 712 electric vehicles (EVs) in a single day to individual customers in Maharashtra and Goa.

With over 23,000 units of sales till now, Tata Motors has a market share of over 87% in the EV space. And to make EVs furthermore accessible, the brand is aggressively pushing its charging network across the nation.

At present, Tata Motors has three EVs in its portfolio: Tigor EV, Nexon EV, and Xpres-T. The latter is essentially a commercial version of the Tigor EV exclusively available for fleet customers only.

The Tigor EV is India’s most affordable long-range electric car, priced between Rs 11.99 – 13.14 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes equipped with a 26 kWh high energy density lithium-ion battery pack and offers a peak output of 75PS/170Nm & a claimed range of 306km. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV ranges from Rs 14.54 – 17.15 lakh (ex-showroom) and delivers an ARAI-claimed range of 312km with the help of its 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery. However, it is worth noting that the real-world range of both these Tata EVs has a massive difference from their claimed figures. In our test, we found that the Tigor EV will deliver you approximately 150-170 kilometers of range per charge, whereas the Nexon EV could cover between 180-240 kilometers for you.

To curb this range issue, Tata is gearing up to introduce a long-range version of the Nexon EV in the coming weeks that is likely to come with a bigger battery pack, more powerful motor, and improved range.

In the other news, Tata has recently unveiled its Curvv electric SUV-coupe in a concept avatar that will hit our shores by 2024.
