Commenting on the introduction of these new variants, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Head – Marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said-

Powering both the SUVs are the same 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine that generates 170PS of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque. As mentioned above, this trim will come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that transmits the power to the front wheels.

In the Indian market, the Tata Harrier rivals the likes of MG Hector, Jeep Compass, and the higher variants of the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos, and upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. On the other hand, the 6/7-seater Tata Safari locks horns with the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.
