Tata Harrier, Safari Get New Sunroof-Equipped XTA+ Variants

Tata Motors has launched a new mid-spec XTA+ variant of the Harrier and Safari SUVs in the Indian market. Based on the XT+ variant, these new XTA+ variants of Harrier and Safari will come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission and a panoramic sunroof. Here's a look at their prices: –

These new trims command a premium of around Rs 1.30 lakh over their respective XT+ manual-variant. However, they are up to Rs 1.73 lakh more affordable as compared to their top-spec XZA+ variant, which is the next sunroof-equipped variant to come with an automatic transmission with both these flagship SUVs. 

Commenting on the introduction of these new variants, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Head – Marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said-

We are ecstatic at the response received by the Harrier and the Safari. The sheer love of our customers has helped us attain the pole position in the high SUV segment. Keeping our customer’s requirements as the topmost priority and in line with our New Forever philosophy of continuously updating our portfolio with new products and features, we are delighted to introduce the latest variants – The Harrier XTA+ and The Safari XTA+. Equipped with two of the most demanded features, these XTA+ variants will come equipped with a 6-speed Automatic Transmission providing an effortless driving experience and a Panoramic Sunroof with functionalities like Global Close, Anti Pinch & Rain Sensing closure to name a few.

Besides the sunroof, the XTA+ variant of both Harrier and Safari also comes equipped with a 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8-speakers (4 speakers + 4 tweeters), automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start, reverse parking camera, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, fog lamps and more. Additionally, the Safari also features iRA connected car technology, mood lighting, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

For passenger safety, the new XTA+ variant comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, electronic stability control, and traction control.

Powering both the SUVs are the same 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine that generates 170PS of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque. As mentioned above, this trim will come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that transmits the power to the front wheels. 

In the Indian market, the Tata Harrier rivals the likes of MG Hector, Jeep Compass, and the higher variants of the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos, and upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. On the other hand, the 6/7-seater Tata Safari locks horns with the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.
