Commenting on the introduction of these new variants, Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Head – Marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said-

Equipped with two of the most demanded features, these XTA+ variants will come equipped with a 6-speed Automatic Transmission providing an effortless driving experience and a Panoramic Sunroof with functionalities like Global Close, Anti Pinch & Rain Sensing closure to name a few.

For passenger safety, the new XTA+ variant comes with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with camera, electronic stability control, and traction control.

Powering both the SUVs are the same 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine that generates 170PS of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque. As mentioned above, this trim will come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that transmits the power to the front wheels.

In the Indian market, the Tata Harrier rivals the likes of MG Hector, Jeep Compass, and the higher variants of the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos, and upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. On the other hand, the 6/7-seater Tata Safari locks horns with the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, and the upcoming Mahindra XUV700.
