Tata Curvv-rivaling Citroen Basalt Vision Coupe Revealed; India Launch Soon

French carmaker Citroen has finally unveiled its all-new coupe SUV called “Basalt Vision”. Currently presented in the concept form, it will soon be launched in Indian and South American markets. Upon its market debut, it will compete with the Curvv, the upcoming coupe SUV from Tata Motors.

What underpins the Citroen Basalt Vision?

The Basalt is actually the fourth model under the company’s C-cubed program. Having said that, it is based on the same CMP architecture as the C3, eC3 and C3 Aircross SUV.

Citroen Basalt Design

  • The Basalt’s front design draws inspiration from Citroen’s current lineup. The Chevron logo atop the grille, the split grille design, and the faux silver skid plate under the bumper remain consistent, albeit with slight variations in the grille inserts.
  • Its profile exudes a dynamic aura with its sleek, coupe-like roofline, while the squared wheel arches, side body cladding, and dual-tone alloy wheels accentuate its sporty demeanour.
  • The rear of this SUV coupe exudes an imposing presence, with its elevated stance and a boot lid that stands tall above the bonnet.
  • Completing the ensemble are the sleek wraparound LED taillamps and a robust bumper adorned with a bold silver skid plate, adding a touch of rugged elegance to the design.
  • Citroen has kept the interior of the Basalt under wraps for now. We expect the dashboard of the Basalt to resemble that of the C3 Aircross, but with upgraded features aimed at enhancing the overall driving experience.

Citroen Basalt Specifications

Citroen has not disclosed the powertrain specifications for the Basalt Vision yet. However, it is expected to be equipped with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine found in the C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV, generating 110PS of max power and up to 205Nm of torque. This engine will likely be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

An all-electric version may also be introduced after the launch of the petrol-powered model.
