Tata Altroz And Nexon Dark Edition Spotted Undisguised, Launch Soon

Tata Motors is gearing up to expand the variant line-up of its two most popular offerings- Altroz and Nexon. Recently, Dark-Editions of these two have been spotted undisguised at a dealer's yard, suggesting that their launch is just around the corner. Even select dealerships have also commenced accepting unofficial bookings ahead of their expected launch on July 7.

Similar to the Harrier Dark Edition, Tata has painted the Nexon and Altroz Dark Editions in the Atlas Black color scheme along with a blacked-out treatment for the radiator grille, fog lamp housing, lower bumpers, and alloy wheels, Both models also get model lettering finished in matte black and a chrome 'Dark' badges on the front fenders.

Inside the cabin, both models sport black upholstery as well as gunmetal grey dashboard trim with a glossy black finish for the center applique. 

Besides the cosmetical tweaks, no other changes will be made to any of these models. These Dark Editions will continue to get the same features list as their respective standard model. They will also be mechanically identical. 

The Nexon will continue to be offered with the same 120PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 110PS 1.5-liter diesel engines, while the Altroz will be powered by the 86PS 1.2-litre petrol, 110PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, and 90PS 1.5-litre diesel engines. While the Nexon sub-compact SUV comes with both 6-speed manual and AMT transmission choices, the Altroz premium hatchback only gets a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard across all variants.

While it is not confirmed, we believe these Dark Editions will be based on the top-end trims of the Altroz and Nexon. And they are likely to command a premium of around Rs 20,000-30,000 over their corresponding variants. For reference, the Tata Altroz currently retails from Rs 5.79 lakh to Rs 9.55 lakh, while the Nexon costs between Rs 7.19 lakh and Rs 12.95 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
