Select Variants Of Kia Seltos and Carnival Discontinued

Highlights: –

  • Kia has dropped the Seltos HTK+ diesel-AT and Carnival’s base-spec Premium 7-seater trim.
  • Seltos’ GTX+ and X-Line trims are now only variants that get diesel-automatic option.
  • Prices of the Kia Carnival now start from Rs 29.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kia India has axed HTK+ diesel-automatic variant of the Seltos SUV and Premium 7-seater trim of the Carnival luxury MPV from their lineup. While the reason for discontinuation is not clear, it could be due to their low demand.

With this, the diesel-automatic combination is no longer available with the Seltos’s HT line variants. Buyers will have to go for the top-spec GTX+ AT and X-Line trims for this powertrain option, which are currently priced at Rs 17.95 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively, a premium of up to Rs 3.94 lakh over the HTK+ AT diesel variant (Rs 14.25 lakh).

In the case of the Carnival, it is now available in Prestige, Limousine, and Limousine Plus variants, priced from Rs 29.49 lakh to Rs 34.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Prestige 6-seater is now the new entry-level variant of this luxurious people mover. Earlier, the brand had also discontinued its Premium 8-seater and Prestige 9-seater trims.

Kia retails the Seltos between Rs 9.95 lakh and Rs 18.19 lakh and it goes up against the Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, and 5-seater variants of Mahindra XUV700. On the other hand, the Kia Carnival doesn’t have any direct rival in the Indian market. It could be seen as a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta.
