Select Maruti Suzuki Automatic Cars Get Price Drops

Maruti Suzuki has announced a price reduction for the AMT automatic variants of several popular models, including the Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, WagonR, Dzire, Baleno, Fronx and Ignis. This move has resulted in these models becoming making them Rs 5,000 more affordable. The new prices are effective from June 1, 2024.

Maruti refers to its AMT gearbox as ‘AGS,’ an acronym for Auto Gear Shift.

  • The Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerior and WagonR are powered by a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The WagonR is also available with a 1.2-litre petrol mill.
  • All other models equipped with an AMT also feature a 1.2-litre petrol engine, albeit a 4-cylinder unit.
  • Models like Maruti Ciaz, Ertiga, Brezza and XL6 are offered with torque converter automatic transmissions and haven’t undergone any price cut.
  • Maruti has also withheld AMT variants of the newly launched new-gen Swift from the price revisions. For those unaware, it comes equipped with Suzuki’s latest 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, Z-Series engine.
  • With the price reduction, the prices for Maruti Suzuki AMT models now start from Rs 5.51 lakh for the Alto K10 VXi trim.

Reason For Price Reduction

According to the carmaker, only 10 percent of Maruti Suzuki Arena customers opt for AMT automatic models, while this number is double for Nexa buyers. So to further increase the adoption of its AMT models, Maruti reduced the prices by up to Rs 5,000. With this, the company predicts a growth of 15-20 percent in this financial year.
