Say Hello To The Next-Generation Force Gurkha; Launch On September 27

Indian auto-enthusiasts have been waiting for the new-generation Force Gurkha for a long time, and now their wait is going to end soon as the automaker has finally unveiled the much-awaited off-roader ahead of its launch on September 27, 2021. However, its deliveries will commence from October 15.

2021 Force Gurkha – What's New?

The 2021 iteration of the Force Gurkha comes only in a 3-door avatar, just like the second-generation Mahindra Thar, and gets a new body shell to make it comply with the latest crash test & safety norms. While it retains its G-Class-inspired butchy and boxy silhouette, it gets a host of redesigned elements to give it a fresh appeal. These mainly include a revised front grille with the ‘GURKHA’ badging, round LED headlamps with daytime running lamps (DRLs), new bumpers at both ends, new glass panes for the windows and windscreens, etc.

The new Gurkha has also grown in size. Here's a look at its updated dimensions: –

Inside the cabin, the new-gen Force off-roader gets an all-black treatment, instead of the dual-tone scheme from the model showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Besides, there's a new dashboard and front-facing captain seats with individual armrests in the second row, making it a four-seater.

As far as the features are concerned, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration support, four speakers, manual air conditioning system, central locking, front power windows, tilt & telescopic adjustment function for the steering, follow-me-home lamps, a 12V power socket, and two USB sockets for each row. Passenger safety is covered by dual front airbags, cornering lamps, ABS with EBD, a tire pressure monitoring system, and rear parking sensors.

2021 Force Gurkha – Powertrain

The 2021 Gurkha will be powered by the same 2.6-litre diesel engine (91PS/215Nm) as its predecessor that is capable of generating 91PS of maximum power and 215Nm of peak torque. However, the brand has updated the oil burner to make it comply with the ongoing BS6 emission norms. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and gets 4WD as standard with front & rear manual locking differentials (MLD), front & rear anti-roll bars, and an air-intake snorkel that offers a water wading capacity of 700mm. Besides, it can tackle gradients of up to 35 degrees with 4WD engaged.

Force claims that it has also returned its suspension setup for improved ride quality.

The brand has dropped the Gurkha Xtreme’s 140PS 2.2-litre diesel engine.

2021 Force Gurkha -Expected Prices

The ex-showroom prices of the 2021 Force Gurkha are expected to start from around Rs 10 lakh onwards. Once launched, it will lock horns with the Mahindra Thar and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
