Royal Enfield Bear 650 Made Its Global Debut

The Royal Enfield Bear 650 has finally made its global debut. It is essentially a scrambler based on the brand’s trusted 650cc platform. Compared to the Interceptor 650, it carries some significant design changes. It will be showcased on November 5, 2024, at EICMA.

Royal Enfield Bear 650 Design and Features

  • The Royal Enfield Bear 650 utilises the same chassis as the Interceptor 650. However, it gets a different suspension setup and wheel sizes that provide it with a unique appearance. It also features a scrambler-style seat that is slightly raised at the back. To further enhance its look, it gets competition number boards on the side panels and a higher ground clearance than the Interceptor. However, its LED headlamp and taillamp units are shared with other Royal Enfields. However, interestingly, instead of dual exhaust pipes, the bike now features a two-into-one setup with a single exhaust on the right side.

  • The ergonomics have also been altered compared to the Interceptor, featuring a wider handlebar and a revised foot peg position.
  • For instrumentation, it gets a circular TFT display from the RE Guerrilla and Himalayan which supports Google Maps.
  • It will be offered in five colour options.

  • Speaking of the underpinning, the bike gets a Showa USD fork (130mm travel) up front, while the rear gets new dual-shock absorbers (115mm travel).
  • The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, wrapped with MRF Nylorex block pattern tyres.
  • For braking, it gets a similar 320mm front disc as the Interceptor; however, the rear features a bigger 270mm disc (+30mm upfront Interceptor). It comes equipped with a switchable dual-channel Antilock Braking System (ABS), which can be deactivated at the rear.
  • At 216kg, the Bear 650 is 2kg lighter than the Interceptor.

Royal Enfield Bear 650 Powertrain

At the heart of the Bear 650 lies the same 648cc parallel twin engine as other 650cc bikes from Royal Enfield. It makes 47.4 PS of max power at 7150 rpm and 56.5Nm of peak torque at 5150 rpm. That makes it 4.2Nm more torquier than all of its 650cc siblings.
