Renault India has launched the Kwid, Kiger and Triber with a CNG kit option, expanding its reach to a new set of customers. However, these CNG kits will not be factory-fitted units. Instead, they will be installed by a government-authorised vendor or dealership.
- The CNG kit option will be available for all the 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol-manual variants of the Renault Kwid, Kiger and Triber. Having said that, the CNG kit option isn’t available for the turbocharged and automatic variants.
- The CNG kit fitment, inclusive of all costs, is priced at Rs 79,500 for the Triber and Kiger, and Rs 75,000 for the Kwid.
- Renault-approved CNG kits are currently offered in five states, including UP, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana, which contributes nearly 65% of the market. More states will be added in the coming months.
- For those unaware, the Kiger, Triber and Kwid are powered by the same 1-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 72PS of max power and 96Nm of peak torque for the Kiger and Triber, and 68PS/92Nm for the Kwid. Renault also offers the Kiger with a 100PS 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
- This engine can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
