  • Until now, these luxury SUVs were manufactured in Solihull, UK, but for the first time, production for these flagship offerings will take place outside the UK.
  • The surge in demand for Range Rover SUVs, up by 160 per cent during the FY24, is a key driver behind this strategic decision.
  • These Made-in-India SUVs will cater only to the domestic market.
  • Currently, the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Velar and Jaguar F-Pace are locally produced at the JLR’s Pune-based facility.
  • The Land Rover Defender, which is in nearly three times greater demand than the Range Rover, will continue to be offered as a fully imported model.
  • Deliveries of the locally assembled Range Rover will begin today, while those for the Range Rover Sport will commence on August 16, 2024.

Made-in-India Range Rover SUV

Commenting on this occasion, Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India, said; “This is a proud moment for all of us in India, as we become the first country to locally manufacture the iconic Range Rover. It is a testament to the quality standards we have successfully achieved in local manufacturing in India, which are at par with JLR standards globally. Manufacturing the Range Rover family locally will bring together the best of both worlds, as outstanding British design, technology and refinement meets the pride of owning a ‘Made in India’ luxury vehicle.”

In other news, Range Rover is gearing up to introduce its fully electric SUV by the end of 2024, with the pure electric version of the Range Rover Sport slated to launch in 2025. It will be manufactured in UK only.
