PMV EaS-E Launched As India’s Most Affordable Electric Car

Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMV), a Mumbai-based startup, has launched its first electric vehicle, the EaS-E, at a starting price of Rs 4.79 lakh (ex-showroom), making it India’s most affordable electric car. Bookings for the EV have already been started for a token amount of Rs 2,000 and the pricing is introductory for the first 10,000 buyers. The company claims that it has already gathered 5,000 bookings.

Essentially, the PMV EaS-E can be viewed as more of a quadricycle than a regular car, measuring 2,915mm in length and 1157mm in Width. Surprisingly, it is 155mm narrower than the Bajaj Qute and can only accommodate up to two people, one in the front and one in the back. It does, however, have four doors for easy access from any side. It is interesting to note that the EaS-E has a monocoque structure with metal body panels.

What Powers The PMV EaS-E?

Powering the PMV EaS-E is an IP67-rated 48-volt lithium iron phosphate battery (capacity hasn’t been revealed yet), mated to a front-axle mounted electric motor good for 13.5PS and 50Nm. It will be offered in three range options of up to 120km, 160km and 200km. Its top speed is rated at 70kmph. The company claims that it can be charged using a regular 15A power socket in approximately 3-4 hours.

As for the interior, the PMV EaS-E is quite well-equipped, and it even comes with an interesting parking feature similar to what BMW cars have, that helps you move the car in forward and reverse using the smartphone app. The other interesting features of the EV include:

  • Connected car tech with remote control functionality
  • LED headlamps
  • Keyless entry
  • Powered side mirrors
  • Bluetooth-enabled infotainment system.
  • Digital driver’s display
  • Cruise Control
  • Air conditioner
  • Power windows
  • Multifunction steering wheel
  • Drive airbag
  • Seatbelts for both passengers
  • Front disc brakes
  • Rear camera.

While the PMV EaS-E doesn’t have any direct competitors in the Indian market, it can be seen as an affordable & more compact alternative to the upcoming Tata Tiago EV and MG Air EV.
