Planning To Buy Toyota Hilux? Wait, New-gen Model Coming Next Month

If you’re planning to bring home the new Toyota Hilux, you may want to wait until next month, as the Japanese carmaker is expected to introduce the 9th-gen version. For those unaware, it made its global debut in November 2025.

Here’s all you need to know about the new-gen Toyota Hilux ahead of its India launch: –

Exterior

  • Being a new-gen model, the 9th-gen Toyota Hilux boasts a completely revamped appearance both from inside and outside, along with upgraded creature comforts and safety.
  • Based on the “Tough and Agile” design language, the new Hilux features a single-piece honeycomb-patterned grille with “Toyota” badging on a black central bar, flanked by aggressively designed, sleek LED headlamps.
  • It also boasts an aggressively designed bumper with angular air intakes, while the fog lamps are positioned on either side of a silver skid plate.
  • From the sides, the new Hilux looks largely unchanged, featuring clean panels with squared-off body cladding.
  • It rides on new 17-inch blacked-out alloy wheels.
  • The lifestyle pickup truck also benefits from new C-shaped LED tail lamps, redesigned tail gate with TOYOTA badging and a new deck step for easy access.
  • Toyota claims that it has a payload capacity of 1 tonne and a towing capacity of 3,500kg.

Interior and Features

  • Inspired by the Land Cruiser, the rugged design theme continues inside the cabin as well, with a dual 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking the centre stage.
  • It also gets a new 3-spoke steering wheel flaunting the TOYOTA lettermark and a new 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster.
  • What’s more interesting is that it also features tons of physical controls to access various functions of the off-roader.
  • When it comes to features, the new Hilux packs a host of new amenities, including dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitor, powered front seats with ventilation function, multi-terrain modes, over-the-air (OTA) updates, ADAS suite and much more.

Powertrain

The new-gen Hilux is expected to retain the existing 2.8-litre diesel engine (204PS and 500Nm), paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It gets a 4×4 drivetrain as standard. However, it is expected to get a 48V Neo-Drive mild-hybrid system from the Fortuner.

Globally, the Hilux has also been offered in an all-electric avatar, featuring a 59.2 kWh battery pack and dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. It claims a torque output of 205Nm at the front and 268.6Nm at the rear, ensuring strong off-road performance and instant torque response. It claims a WLTP range of just over 240km.
