Ola Gig and Gig+ Commercial Scooters Launched With Removable Batteries

Ola Electric has launched its first B2B-oriented commercial electric scooter in India, the Gig, with prices starting at Rs 39,999 (ex-showroom). It is available in two variants: Gig and Gig+, catering to different commercial needs with varying performance and features.

  • Ola Gig is designed for commercial use, featuring a large single seat for the rider, along with a carrier at the back for deliverery and utility purposes. While the Gig sports a minialist design, the Gig Plus stands out with front body cladding sporting more vibrant colours.
  • The base-spec Gig variant comes equipped with a 1.5kWh removable battery, propelling a 250W motor and has a top speed of 25 kmph, eliminating the need for registation. Its a direct rival to Yulu’s scooters, popular in metro cities. It claims a range of 112 kilometers on a full charge.

  • The range-topping Gig+ features a more powerful 1.5kW motor, offering a top speed of 45 kmph. It utilises two 1.5kWh removable batteries, which concertedly deliver a range of 157 kilometers on a single charge. On the other hand, its single battery variant claims a range of 81 kilometers.
  • While Ola claims a quick charging time, specific details haven’t been disclosed yet.
  • Similar to Yulu bikes, the Ola Gig and Gig+ will feature app-based access for starting.
  • Details like seat height, kerb weight, load-carrying capacity and wheel sizes remain unknown at the moment.
