Ola Electric’s Gen 3 Scooter Portfolio Receives PLI Certification from ARAI

The entire Gen 3 scooter portfolio of Ola Electric has been certified under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for the automobile and auto components sectors. The certification has been granted by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, further strengthening Ola’s standing in India’s EV ecosystem.

According to Ola Electric, the PLI certification makes the company eligible for incentives ranging from 13% to 18% of the determined sales value until 2028. This is expected to significantly strengthen Ola’s margins and profitability, particularly from Q2 FY26 (July–September 2025) onwards. This could reshape the company’s financial health, product affordability, and long-term competitiveness in India’s fast-evolving EV market

The development comes at a critical time, as the company has been grappling with multiple challenges, including intense competition, pricing pressures, and rising input costs. The PLI incentives, especially for the best-selling Gen 3 platform, are expected to provide a much-needed boost to financial stability.

Which Models Are Certified?

The PLI certification applies to all models and variants under the Gen 3 lineup, including the S1 Pro+, S1 Pro, S1 X+, and S1 X. With this, Ola now has both its Gen 2 and Gen 3 scooters fully PLI-certified.

Ola Electric PLI Certification: Will Prices Come Down?

One key question that follows is whether Ola Electric will pass on the benefits of PLI-linked incentives to customers. The scheme makes companies eligible for government incentives that help lower manufacturing costs, but how much of that advantage reaches end-users depends on the company’s pricing strategy.

Ola has a track record of rolling out festive offers and aggressive pricing schemes, so there remains a possibility that some benefits could trickle down to buyers in the coming months.

At present, Ola is running limited-time offers such as a five-year free extended warranty, ₹5,000 cash discount, and ₹5,000 EMI benefits on select credit cards across its portfolio. Additionally, the MoveOS subscription is available at 50% off for the S1 Pro and Pro+.

Ola’s Future Roadmap

The certification aligns with Ola’s broader expansion strategy, showcased during its recent ‘Sankalp 2025’ event. The company unveiled its Gen 4 platform, which will feature a powerful 16 kW motor paired with locally manufactured 4680 Bharat cells. These new battery cells promise to be lighter, more efficient, and cost-effective, and Ola plans to use them not only in scooters but also in its upcoming electric motorcycles. The event also witnessed the reveal of the Ola S1 Pro Sport, with deliveries set to commence in January 2026. Head here for more details.
