With the launch of the Nissan Tekton SUV, its Bharat NCAP safety rating has also been announced. Being a rebadged version of the Renault Duster, the Tekton has also been certified with a full 5-star safety rating as its donor model.
Rated On Duster’s Crash Test Performance
Since the Nissan-Tekton is a ‘corporate twin’ to the Renault Duster and features the same safety equipment and vehicle structure, the Bharat NCAP has awarded the Tekton based on the safety assessment of the Renault Duster conducted in March 2026

- Conducted at 64 kmph, the Renault Duster and Nissan Tekton offered ‘Good’ protection to the driver and passenger’s head and neck in the frontal impact test.
- The protection to the driver’s chest was rated as ‘Adequate’, while the passenger’s chest protection was rated ‘Good’.
- Protection offered to the driver’s and passenger’s thighs and pelvis region was also rated as ‘Good’, while both tibias of the driver showed ‘Adequate’ protection. However, the co-passenger’s tibia was rated to be ‘Good’.
- The driver’s feet received a ‘Good’ protection rating.
- In the side pole test and side deformable barrier test conducted at 50 kmph, the mid-size SUV offered ‘Good’ protection to all critical body parts.

For both 18-year old and 3-year old child dummies, the Duster/Tekton offered ‘Good’ protection. However, limited details were shared by the testing agency.

Nissan Tekton/Renault Duster Safety Features
Both the Tekton and Duster come equipped with safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, brake assist, cornering stability control, roll over sensors, hill start assist, full underbody protector, 3-point seat belt for all seats, seat belt reminders, tyre pressure monitoring system and much more. Their top variants also get a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, front parking sensors, hill descent control, and a level-2 ADAS suite.
Nissan Tekton/Renault Duster Price and Rivals
Both the Nissan Tekton and Renault Duster are priced between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.59 lakh (ex-showroom) and lock horns with the Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor.
