New Mahindra Thar Records 50,000 Bookings In Just 6 Months

Mahindra has recently announced that it has crossed the 50,000 bookings mark within just six months since its launch on 2nd October 2020. The credit for its huge success can be attributed to its attractive design, excellent performance with fabulous off-road capabilities and a more family-friendly nature compared to its previous model.

As it says, huge success comes at a cost and in the case of Thar, the customer will need to pay the price (not talking about the on-road price) in form of a huge waiting period. Due to the immense popularity of the second-generation Mahindra Thar, it is currently witnessing an 11-month-long waiting timeline, depending on the variant and location. Besides, the ongoing global shortage of semiconductors is also causing a lot of trouble, affecting deliveries of the off-roader. However, the brand has fast-tracked the process of increasing production capacity both at its Nasik facility and at the supplier-end to meet the demand for the All-New Thar and reduce the waiting period for customers.

Commenting on the booking milestone, Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said-

We are overwhelmed with this unprecedented response that the All-New Thar has garnered; it has, in fact, surpassed all our expectations. The wait for the All-New Thar has been longer than expected and we sincerely appreciate our customers’ patience and unwavering confidence in us while we are working with our suppliers to ramp up production in these challenging times.
