New-Gen Toyota Camry Hybrid Is Finally Here

The ninth-generation Toyota Camry has finally hit the Indian shores via the CKD route at a price tag of Rs 48 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 1.83 lakh more expensive than its predecessor. Globally, it was revealed a year ago. Compared to its key rival, the Skoda Superb, it is roughly Rs 6 lakh more affordable.

2025 Toyota Camry – What’s New?

The new Toyota Camry has undergone a complete design overhaul, along with tons of new features and a retuned suspension setup. Its frugal strong-hybrid powertrain continues to be its main highlight.

Design and Platform

Based on the TNGA-K platform, the Toyota Camry claims to offer improved driving dynamics and stability by lowering the centre of gravity and seating position.

Design-wise, the new Camry flaunts a bold and contemporary appearance, highlighted by a new hammerhead-inspired front facia that exudes a sporty and aggressive vibe. Furthermore, the sleek LED headlamps paired with striking C-shaped LED DRLs enhance its modern aesthetics. The upgraded sedan also boasts Lexus-like anvil-shaped bumpers, new alloys, and a redesigned tail section with a new C-shaped LED lighting system.

Interior and Features

Inside, the new Camry features a revamped dashboard layout with a 12.3-inch floating infotainment system taking centre stage. It also packs a digital cluster, a 9-inch JBL sound system, a 10-inch heads-up display, digital key support, reclining & ventilation functions for rear seats, memory function for side mirrors and driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, a retractable sunshade, seatback screens, wireless charger, rain-sensing wipers, and much more.

For safety, it gets nine airbags, front & rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which is essentially Toyota’s jargon for its ADAS suite.

Powertrain

The 2025 Toyota Camry retains its 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, but now it comes with the brand’s 5th-gen hybrid system (THS 5), comprising two electric motors. It makes 223PS of max power with a front-wheel driver setup and 235PS with an all-wheel-drive setup, 4% more than its outgoing model.

Toyota claims the AWD system enhances traction when needed, such as during adverse weather conditions or while cornering. Both powertrains are paired with an electronic CVT and a lithium-ion battery.
