2024 KTM 390 Duke – What’s New?

The all-new KTM 390 Duke brings a lot of meaningful changes in its design, frame, underpinnings and mechanics. Here are all the details: –

  • The new-generation 390 Duke features a more intuitive design with a bigger fuel tank and their sharper extensions and more aggressive-looking twin LED headlamps.
  • It is based on a new steel trellis frame with a pressure die-cast aluminium subframe, along with a curved aluminium swingarm. Furthermore, its 43mm WP Apex USD forks now have both compression & rebound adjustability, whereas the rear monoshock gets 5-step preload and rebound adjustment.
  • Powering this streetfighter is a new 399cc, liquid-cooled engine that makes 46 PS at 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 39 Nm at 6500 rpm, that’s 2.5 PS and 2 Nm more than the Gen-2 model’s 373cc engine. Also, the max output now achieves 500 rpm earlier.
  • The bike also receives an improved gearbox, a larger airbox, a better-optimised cylinder head, and two radiator fans for better cooling.
  • KTM states that its power-to-weight ratio has also been improved from 190 PS/ton to 272 PS/ton, which should result in better acceleration and performance.
  • With all these upgrades, the 390 Duke can do the 0-60 kmph and 0-100 kmph sprints in just 2.4 seconds and 5.9 seconds, respectively, before hitting a top speed of 155 kmph.

  • There’s also the updated switchgear with new 4-way menu switches on the left handlebar.
  • For braking, the bike gets a 320mm front disc with the radial calliper and 240mm rear disc brakes, with cornering ABS with supermoto mode.
  • It rides on 17-inch lighter alloy wheels and rotors, wrapped in 110/70-section front and 150/60-section rear tyres.
  • Tipping the scale at 168kg, the new Duke 390 is around 4kg lighter than its predecessor.
  • Regarding size, the new 2024 KTM 390 Duke has a wheelbase of 1354mm, a ground clearance of 183mm (32mm more than the previous model), and a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres (2.5L more). Its seat height measures 800mm from the ground, which can be increased to an optional 820mm.
