New-Gen Hyundai Verna Incoming; Production To Start In March 2023

Hyundai Motors is gearing up for the global unveil of the new-gen Verna (codenamed: BN7i) in the coming months. Reports suggest that it is likely to go into series production in India in March 2023.

According to reports, Hyundai will also increase the production of the Verna in India from 40,000 to 70,000 units per year, with the majority of the production being exported to Europe and Latin America. Hyundai is now serving these markets through alternate arrangements due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict that forced the St Petersburg plant to close, and so the production of the next-gen Verna will be redirected to Hyundai’s India plant.

2023 Hyundai Verna – What To Expect?

The new-gen Hyundai Verna has been spied testing numerous times on our roads, and going by the leaks, it could borrow its styling cues from its elder sibling, the Elantra, flaunting the brand’s latest ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language.

The interior of the upcoming sedan will also be thoroughly overhauled. It is likely to feature a dual-screen setup for the infotainment and driver’s display. The upgraded Hyundai Verna will also pack features like a powered driver’s seat, Bose premium sound system, a 360-degree camera, and radar-based ADAS active safety features.

Catering to enthusiasts, the new-gen Verna could also get an N-Line variant with some sportier cosmetic enhancements, a revised suspension setup and a throatier exhaust note.

Mechanically, the 2023 Hyundai Verna could only be a petrol-powered model. It is likely to come with two petrol engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit. The diesel engine is unlikely to make its way to the new Verna because of the upcoming RDE emission norms.

New Generation Hyundai Verna to launch in 2023

Considering all these changes, the 2023 Hyundai Verna is likely to bear a significant price premium over the existing model, which currently ranges from Rs 9.63 lakh and Rs 15.71 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to go up against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
