MG ZS EV Records 700+ Bookings For The ZS EV In August 2021

With the skyrocketing fuel prices, the market is witnessing an increase in the demand for alternative fuels and electric vehicles. That said, MG Motor India has observed a remarkable response from buyers for its sole electric vehicle, the ZS EV, in the month of August 2021. The brand sold over 500 units of the electrified SUV last month against the 404 units in July 2021. Besides, it has also received over 700 bookings in August, which is the highest ever since its launch in January 2020.

Apart from the ZS EV, other MG models have also done well in the last month. It recorded 51 percent of Year-On-Year (YoY) growth as compared to August 2020. The company traded over 3,400 units of Hector & Hector Plus duo and 405 units of the full-size Gloster SUV in August 2021.

Coming back to the MG ZS EV, it comes in two variants:  Excite and Exclusive, priced at Rs 20.99 lakh and Rs 24.58 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. It draws its charge from a 44.5 kWh li-ion battery pack that helps it in delivering a driving range of around 419 kilometers on a single charge, whereas it's electric motor produces 143PS and 353Nm. Its battery can be energized up to 80 percent in just 50 minutes via a DC fast charger, while a regular wall-box AC charger takes about 6-8 hours for a full charge. It also comes with a portable three-way plug charger that performs the same function in roughly 18 to 19 hours.

Currently, the Hyundai Kona EV is the only direct competitor to the MG ZS EV, which retails from Rs 23.79 lakh to Rs 23.97 lakh. Besides, the Tata Nexon EV could also be seen as a more economical alternative to the MG SUV.
