MG Hector Plus To Get ADAS And 4X4 Drivetrain

In July 2020, MG Motor launched the 6-seater Hector Plus SUV. Now, the brand is gearing up to introduce its 7-seater version along with a new Savvy variant of the 6-seater model, which will be positioned above the current top-spec Sharp variant.

The upcoming MG Hector Plus Savvy variant will come with 4×4 compatibility and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) similar to the flagship Gloster SUV. In Gloster, this ADAS tech includes semi-autonomous parking, adaptive cruise control, frontal collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, and blind-spot detection system.

Apart from these, it will carry forward all the features of the Sharp variant including an all-LED lighting system, auto headlamps & DRLs, diamond-cut alloy wheels, powered tailgate with sweep-to-open function, 360-degree camera, 10.4-inch vertical infotainment system, connected car technology, 7.0-inch display for instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, auto climate control, rear AC vents, ambient lighting, powered driver & passenger seat, tire pressure monitor system, heated side mirrors, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist (BA), front & rear parking sensors, ISOFIX mounts, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), hill hold control, traction control, etc.

Currently, the details about the engine availability of the new MG Hector Plus Savvy trim remains unknown. But like the Sharp variant, it is expected to be available with both the 1.5-litre turbo petrol (143PS/250Nm) and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel (170PS/350Nm) engine. MG also offers the turbo-petrol unit with a 48V mild-hybrid system in the top-spec Sharp variant. For transmission duties, the non-hybrid petrol model gets a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, whereas its petrol-hybrid & diesel models can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission only. Expect the gearbox options to remain the same in the Savvy variant.

Morris Garages will launch the 7-seater version of the Hector Plus SUV in January 20201. We believe this new Savvy trim will also be launched at the same time. It is likely to command a premium of around Rs 1 lakh over the Sharp variant, which currently retails between Rs 17.38 lakh and Rs 18.68 lakh (ex-showroom).
