Highlights: –
- MG Hector and Hector Plus are no longer available with DCT automatic transmission.
- Prices of CVT-petrol variants have also gone up by up to Rs 56,000.
- The petrol-hybrid and diesel variants of both the SUVs continue to be available with the ongoing 5-speed MT.
MG Motor has discontinued the DCT-equipped Smart and Sharp variants of the Hector from its lineup. That means the 8-step Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) is now the only automatic option on offer with the mid-size SUV. The three-row Hector Plus has also dropped the DCT variants.
For those who aren't aware, a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) was offered with Hector's 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine only that is good in generating 143PS and 250Nm. While the output seems fair enough, at least on paper, but considering the huge size of the car, the engine was a bit slow and very less frugal with the DCT unit. MG also offers the same engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system to ensure optimum mileage, however, this combination only gets a 6-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine (170PS/350Nm) also comes paired with a 6-speed manual unit.
Besides the discontinuation of Hector and Hector Plus's DCT variants, the carmaker has also revised the prices of CVT automatic trims. Here's take a look at their new prices: –
