MG Hector BS6 Diesel launched in India, Diesel Automatic soon

MG India has finally launched the BS6 Diesel version of their SUV, MG Hector. The Price for diesel starts at Rs. 13.88 lakh and goes all the way to Rs. 17.72 lakh. It will be offered in 4 variants just like its previous version, viz. style, super, smart, sharp. The petrol version of BS6 Hector was launched earlier in February. It costs Rs. 12.73 lakh to Rs. 17.43 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

Features

It consists the following features-

  • It has Macpherson Strut suspension in the front while Semi-Independent Helical Spring Torsion Beam at the rear. A fuel tank capacity of 60 litres and disc brakes both front and rear.
  • It enjoys rich premium features like dual-toned machine alloy wheels, 10.4" infotainment system with over 50 connected car features (i-smart technology), 7'' coloured MID, cruise control, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, electronic tailgate, rear seats recline function & a wide range of LED lightings is visible inside as well as outside the car.
  • It also has numerous safety features like ABS with EBD, 6 airbags, brake assist, ESP, TCS, hill hold control, 360-degree camera, parking sensors, TPMS, Isofix child seat mounts.

The car will be on offer in 5 colours. It competes against the Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass. In comparison to its BS4 model, the BS6 hector prices hiked by Rs. 20,000-30,000 and the diesel by Rs. 40,000-45,000 depending upon the variant.

Diesel Automatic is in pipeline

There have also been reports of a Hector diesel Automatic to be on offer soon in India. MG also hinted the same in revert to a tweet. However, it will be interesting to see a DCT unit here. The Fiat-sourced Diesel engine, which MG is using, also does duty in Jeep compass and Tata Harrier with a 9-speed Torque converter and 6-speed Torque converter respectively.
