MG Gloster to Get Minor Updates In 2022

MG Motor is gearing up to update the Gloster SUV. Recently, the flagship utility vehicle was spied testing along with its Chinese counterpart, the Maxus D90. Its current model was first introduced in October 2020 and is due to receive a mid-life update in 2022.

Since the test mule was heavily camouflaged, we believe that the 2022 MG Gloster will see some cosmetic changes. However, its front design looked similar to its current model, while the D90 featured a differently styled mesh patterned grille.
We don't expect any major changes inside the cabin except for the new upholstery and a few new features. The current model of the SUV is already well loaded and comes with a host of segment-first features like three-zone climate control with a PM2.5 filter, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-way adjustable driver seat with memory function, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) which consists of autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, and lane-departure assist. The other notable features of the SUV includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, iSmart connectivity with phone app and Apple Watch compatibility, leather upholstery, 12-speaker premium sound system, heated & ventilated front powered seats, wireless charging pad, 64-colors ambient lighting, all-LED lighting system and much more.

No changes are expected under the hood. The 2022 Gloster will continue to get the ongoing diesel engine options – a 2.0-liter turbo (163PS/375Nm) and a 2.0-liter twin-turbo (218PS/480Nm). Both of these mills come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. While the former engine gets an RWD, the twin-turbo unit comes with a 4WD.

Currently, the MG Gloster is available in four trims: Super (7-seater only), Smart (6-seater only), Sharp (both 6- and 7-seaters), and Savvy (both 6- and 7-seaters), which are priced between Rs 29.98 lakh to Rs 37.68 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect its updated model to command a slight premium over its ongoing model. Once launched, it will rekindle its competition with the Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4, and Isuzu mu-X.
