Morris Garages (MG) India has teased its upcoming Gloster SUV for the very first time in a video. It was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is likely to be launch around the festive season and will be the fourth offering from British makers after the Hector, ZS EV, and Hector Plus.
2020 MG Gloster SUV: What does the teaser reveal?
The latest teaser video of the MG Gloster SUV shows a glimpse of the advanced technology found in it. It reveals that it will pack some powerful technology-loaded and segment-first features including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking with Collision avoidance system and parking assist, etc.
What else do we know about the MG Gloster?
As we mentioned earlier, it was debuted at the Auto Expo in February 2020. It’s a rebadged version of the Maxus D90 (available in China). Also, it has also been spied during the testing. Hence, it is safe to assume that what all will it offer.
The upcoming Gloster SUV will be a feature-rich car. It is likely to get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with i-Smart connected tech, 3-zone climate control with ventilated front seats and rear AC vents, panoramic sunroof, premium sound system, digital instrument cluster, power front seats with memory function, ambient lighting, leatherette upholstery, air purifier with perfume dispenser and an all-around 360-degree parking camera.
As far as the safety features are concerned, it is expected to get multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front, side & rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control and drive modes for different terrain conditions.
Expected Powertrain
MG hasn't revealed anything about the powertrain yet. However, like its global counterpart- Maxus D90, it might get a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine (224PS/360Nm) and a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine (215PS/480Nm). Both engines are likely to be mated with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The SUV could be offered in both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrain options.
Expected Price & Rivals
MG Gloster's pricing can possibly start somewhere around Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom), rivaling the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4. It is important to note that it will be the longest car in its segment with a length of more than 5 meters.

MG Motors is continuously working to elongate its hold in the SUV segment. For the Indian market, the Gloster will be the MG's flagship offering. It seems to be a strong contender against the segment leader Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
