MG Astor Sold Out For This Year; Deliveries To Begin In November 2021

MG Motor India has opened bookings for the Astor SUV today, and its first lot of 5,000 units sold out within 20 minutes of opening the booking window. With this, the car has been completely booked for 2021, and the automaker is now taking reservations for deliveries in 2022. This also means that the introductory prices range of the SUV (Rs 9.78 lakh to Rs 17.38 lakh) has come to an end, and the new customers will have to shell out more. Deliveries of the first batch of the MG Astor will begin in November 2021.

For those who aren't aware, the MG Astor is available with a choice of two gasoline engines: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (110PS/140Nm) and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol (140PS/220Nm). While the naturally aspirated motor comes with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-step CVT, the turbocharged mill gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission as standard.

MG offers the Astor in five variants – Style, Super, Smart, Sharp, and Savvy. It comes with a host of segment-first features like a personal AI assistant. Bluetooth-based digital car key, and Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that comprises features like adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane keep/departure assist, rear cross-traffic alert, high beam assist, blind-spot monitoring, pilot assist, and much more. The other notable equipment includes a digital driver's display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, powered driver's seat, connected car technology, automatic LED headlights with DRLs, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, all-four-disc brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, and hill ascent/descent control, etc.

The MG Astor rivals the Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti S-Cross, Renault Duster, and select variants of Mahindra XUV700.
