New Mercedes-Benz EQS Electric SUV Unveiled

The highly awaited Mercedes-Benz EQS three-row electric SUV has finally made its global debut. This new flagship vehicle is essentially the electric equivalent of the Mercedes GLS SUV. Here’s all you need to know about this new Mercedes EV: –

Platform and Dimensions: Based on the same modular EVA2 platform as the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan, it measures 5,130 mm in length, 1,955 mm in width, and 1,727 mm in height. Its wheelbase lengthens to 3,200mm. At the given dimensions, the SUV is 91mm smaller, 33mm wider, and 206mm taller than its sedan counterpart.

– Exterior Design: The all-new Mercedes Benz EQS SUV shares its design cues with the EQS sedan. That said, it features an uncluttered glossy black front grille, clamshell bonnet, and sleek LED headlamps, albeit with a distinguished three small triangle-shaped LED elements. What further differentiates is the raised height, aerodynamically-optimized wheel designs (ranging from 20 to 22 inches), black cladding along the bottom edge, optional side steps, and of course the SUV-shaped rear profile with connecting light bar and chunky black bumper.

– Interior and Features: Accommodating up to 7 seats, the cabin design of the EQS SUV is almost identical to the EQS sedan, featuring a 56-inch curved-glass panel (MBUX Hyperscreen) from the left A-pillar to the right A-pillar, surrounded by LED ambient lighting. It comprises a 17.7-inch MBUX infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a 12.3-inch passenger touchscreen unit. It also features two 11.6-inch rear entertainment displays and an MBUX rear tablet.

Further sweetening the luxury quotient of the EV is the premium leather upholstery, with three-pointed Star graphic wood inserts on the door trims and center console.

The other notable bits of the electrified SUV include a panoramic sunroof, a Burmester audio system with Dolby Atmos software, a head-up display (HUD), augmented reality navigation, electrically-adjustable seats, wireless charger, four driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Individual), and a dedicated off-road mode for the AWD version only.
