Mercedes Benz EQC Launched At An Introductory Price Of Rs 99.3 Lakh

Mercedes-Benz has now finally launched the EQC electric SUV in India at an introductory price of Rs 99.30 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 50 units. Originally, it was to be launched in April 2020.

With the launch of the SUV, Mercedes Benz has become the first luxury automaker to offer a pure electric vehicle in the country. Initially, the Mercedez EQC will be available for sales only in six cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai.

Mercedes Benz EQC – Design

The EQC is based on the Mercedez-Benz GLC. The overall silhouette of the car also looks similar to the GLC. But on the design aspect, especially on the front, the German maker has extensively reworked the styling to make it look different. These distinctive bits include a redesigned front-end with piano-black grille flanked by LED DRLs that connect the LED headlamps, decently styled bumpers, aerodynamically designed 20-inch alloy wheels with blue accents, and Porsche like connected sleek LED taillights at the rear.

Move inside and its futuristic-design theme will dazzle you. It gets a modern Mercedes styled cabin, featuring an all-black theme with blue-black dual-tone fabric upholstery and silver fin pattern on the top part of the dash and the doors. It also features golden brown/bronze color highlights on the stitchings and the air-con vents.

The EQC is loaded with premium features like twin-screen setup (12.3-inch MBUX infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display), connected car technology, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, voice assistant, a 13-speaker Burmester sound system, three-zone climate control, rear AC vents, electronic parking, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, sunroof, and powered front seats with memory & massage function, powered tailgate, multiple driving modes, etc. 

The safety kit features seven airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, traction control, lane-keeping aid, adaptive radar-guided cruise control, attention assist, and a blind-spot detection system.

Mercedes EQC – Powertrain, Range, Top Speed & Charging System

The EQC is an all-wheel-drive (AWD) electric SUV that comes with an 80kWh battery pack, powering two synchronous motors of 150kW, one on each axle. They develop a combined output of 408PS of maximum power and 760Nm of peak torque. It can do a 0-100kmph sprint in just 5.1 seconds before striking an electronically limited top speed of 180kmph.

As per NEDC (New European Driving Cycle), It is capable to deliver a claimed range of around 450km on a full charge.

The EQC gets two charging options: a 3.4kWh portable charger and a 7.4kWh home wall charger that Mercedes will install at your preferred location. It also supports DC fast charging. The charging time of EQC from different types of chargers are as follows:-

Mercedes-Benz EQC doesn’t have any direct competitor at the moment. But Audi e-Tron and Jaguar i-Pace are expected to soon debut in the Indian market.
