For those who aren't aware, the Mercedes Benz EQC was launched in October 2020 for an introductory price of Rs 99.30 lakh (ex-showroom), and its sales were limited to six metro cities — Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru. However, the electrified German SUV received an overwhelming response from buyers and went out of sale in a couple of months. Now, Mercedes has expanded EQC's retail network and thus its second lot will be available across 50 cities in the country, making it accessible to a wider section of the audience.
Besides, Mercedes will now also offer a more powerful 11kWh wall box charger instead of the earlier 7.4kWh unit. With this, the 10 to 100% charging time has been reduced from 11 hours to 7 hours 30 minutes.
Powering the Mercedes-Benz EQC are two asynchronous motors of 150kW (one on each axle), giving the SUV an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration. They deliver a combined output of 408PS and 765Nm, which help it in sprinting from 0-100kmph in merely 5.1 seconds. The EQC draws its charge from an 80kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of around 450km on a full charge.
In terms of features, the EQC comes loaded with a premium set of equipment such as a twin-screen setup (12.3-inch MBUX infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display), connected car technology, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, voice assistant, a 13-speaker Burmester sound system, three-zone climate control, rear AC vents, electronic parking, 64-colour ambient lighting, wireless phone charger, sunroof, powered front seats with memory & massage function, powered tailgate, multiple driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Max Range, Sport, and Individual), etc.
The last price of the Mercedes-Benz EQC was Rs 1.06 crore (ex-showroom), and the upcoming lot of the SUV is unlikely to get any price hike. In the Indian market, the EQC rivals the likes of the Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace.
