Maruti Suzuki, India's largest passenger carmaker, has the widest CNG portfolio in the country. And now, the brand has plans to expand it even further with a slew of new launches, including the Swift, Dzire, and Celerio CNG. Media reports are also suggesting that the company will introduce Vitara Brezza's CNG iteration by April this year. Earlier, Shashank Shrivastava, the executive director of sales and marketing at MSIL, has also stated that they are getting feedback to get CNG in the Vitara Brezza.
The Vitara Brezza will continue to utilize its ongoing 105PS 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine; however, the power will drop when running on CNG. In fact, the Ertiga CNG is also powered by the same engine. It develops 92PS of maximum power and 122Nm of peak torque, 13PS and 16Nm less than its petrol version. We can expect similar numbers in the Vitara Brezza CNG. The transmission option, on the other hand, is likely to be limited to a 5-speed manual to keep costs in check.
The Ertiga CNG claims a fuel efficiency of 26.08km/kg. But being smaller in size, expect Vitara Brezza to offer better mileage than its MPV sibling.

If reports are to be believed, the CNG powertrain option will be offered with Vitara Brezza's soon-to-be-launched new-gen model, which is likely to be called 'BREZZA' only. It will come with a wholly overhauled exterior and interior design, along with a host of additional features, and sheet metal changes.
