Maruti Suzuki Recalls Ignis Over Parking Sensors Issue

Maruti Suzuki has issued a recall for the now-discontinued Ignis hatchback over an issue associated with the rear parking sensors. The exact numbers of affected units and their manufacturing timeline are yet to be revealed.

According to a document issued by an authorised dealer, Maruti Suzuki has identified a potential issue with the controller assembly, which may occasionally cause the reverse parking sensors to malfunction. As a precautionary measure, the company has decided to proactively replace the faulty component. The brand stated that this step is being undertaken to ensure a better overall customer experience.

The authorised dealers of the Maruti Suzuki have already started contacting owners of affected units to schedule their visit to the workshop so that the affected part can be diagnosed and replaced if required. All of this will be done at no cost.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis rear parking sensor issue

Issues related to parking sensors are not very critical to the vehicle’s core functionality. However, it can impact the ease of use, especially in tight urban environments where such features are frequently used. Hence, we also request owners of Maruti Suzuki Ignis to contact their nearest authorised dealerships to check if their vehicles are also part of the recall campaign.

For those unaware, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis was first launched in 2017 with petrol and diesel engines, and received a mid-life facelift update in 2020. With this, its diesel engine was discontinued. Although it never gained much popularity due to its quirky design, its 83PS 1.2-litre petrol engine was admired by car enthusiasts.

The model didn’t receive any significant updates after 2020, and its sales gradually declined over time. As a result, the brand has now silently stopped its production. Before being axed, the Ignis was priced between Rs 5.35 lakh and Rs 7.55 lakh (ex-showroom).
