Maruti Ignis Zeta Variant Now Gets A SmartPlay Studio Infotainment, Price Increased By Rs 8,000

The quirky micro hatch, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis has been given a feature update in its second to top Zeta trim. To be precise, the Zeta trim now gets a 7-inch Smartplay Studio touchscreen infotainment system. The addition has also been followed by a humble price hike of Rs 8,000 for both the Zeta Manual and AMT transmission options.

Change though has only been restricted to the Zeta trim. There is no change whatsoever with respect to the Sigma, Delta and Alpha variants and consequently, their prices are also unchanged.

Maruti Ignis Zeta: The New Addition

As mentioned earlier, the Zeta variant will now get a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which was exclusive to the Alpha variant only. The addition of touchscreen infotainment also brings additional features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, voice command control, and an in-built navigation system.

The addition of the touchscreen infotainment system will definitely increase the desirability of the Zeta variant and add to the already generous feature list that includes alloy wheels, push-button engine starts/stop, keyless entry, electrically adjustable and folding ORVM, rear windshield wiper and defogger.

What does it miss out on?

As it happens to be the second-to-top trim it misses out on luxury features like LED headlamps and DRLs, automatic climate control, height-adjustable driver’s seat and a rear parking camera. All these added utilities come at a price premium of Rs 75,000 over the respective Zeta trims.

Author’s Take

With the addition of a touchscreen infotainment system into the mix, the Zeta variant is now definitely come forward as a more value for money offering because the price hike of Rs 8,000 demanded against the same also happens to be a humble one.

Though Ignis’s direct competitor, Mahindra KUV100 has not really been able to put forward even an average sales performance consistently, indirect rivals like the Grand i10 Nios sell in decent numbers. Maruti  Suzuki will be hoping that this compelling change attracts more buyers towards the micro hatch’s most value for money ‘Zeta’ variant.
