Maruti Brezza Becomes Safer: Six Airbags Now Standard

Maruti Suzuki has improved the safety of its most popular SUV, the Brezza, by making six airbags standard across all variants. With this update, the compact SUV offers better protection for occupants. However, this update comes at a cost, as Maruti Suzuki has also introduced a price hike of up to Rs 20,000, making the SUV cost between Rs 8.54 lakh and Rs 14.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Until now, six airbags were limited to Brezza’s top-end ZXi+ variant.

Author’s Take

Before the new-gen Dzire underwent crash testing, the Brezza was regarded as Maruti’s safest model, earning a 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP in 2018 (based on older testing parameters). With the latest safety upgrade, the Brezza now stands a strong chance of securing a 5-star safety rating. Currently, the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Skoda Kylaq are the only 5-star-rated cars in the segment.
