Mahindra XUV700 To Get Special Seat For Differently-Abled Passengers

Following a request by Paralympian Deepa Malik, a team of engineers at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) has developed a special co-passenger seat for the XUV700 keeping in mind the requirements of the differently-abled passengers.

This special front seat is power-adjustable and can swivel 90-degrees for easier ingress and egress. It can also be lowered closer to the ground, making it easier to get on it from the wheelchair.

For those who aren't aware, Deepa Malik had earlier requested Anand Mahindra, Tata Motors, and MG Motor India to develop a seat for differently-abled people. Anand Mahindra accepted her appeal and instructed his team to take up the project. And now, the automaker has invited Deepa to the MRV to test out the special seat. Mahindra will gift this tailor-made vehicle to the Paralympic Avani Lekhara for winning a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games in the 10m Air Rifle competition.

Apart from this, Mahindra has also developed XUV700's Javelin Edition that will soon find its way into athlete Neeraj Chopra and Sumit Antil's garages.

In the other news, Mahindra has garnered over 65,000 bookings for the XUV700. Deliveries of its petrol variants are scheduled to begin on October 30, followed by the diesel variants from the last week of November. Click here for more details.
