Mahindra XUV400 Likely To Be Available In Three Variants

Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the XUV400 in January 2023. While the technical details about the upcoming electric SUV have already been revealed, a leaked document from the transport department now exposes that the EV will likely be offered in three variants – an unnamed base variant, mid-spec EP and range-topping EL.

For those who aren’t aware, Mahindra XUV400 will come equipped with an IP-67 rated 39.4kWh battery pack that claims an ARAI-tested drive range of 456km on a single charge. Its Permanent Magnet Synchronous (PMS) electric motor can produce up to 149PS and a best-in-class peak torque of 310Nm, letting the SUV sprint from a standstill to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 160 kmph. Using a 50kW DC fast charger, the electrified SUV can be charged up to 80% in just 50 minutes, whereas the regular portable home charger will take roughly 13 hours to fully juice its battery pack.

Speaking of the design, the XUV400 looks similar to the XUV300 save for a few cosmetic changes, such as a clossed-off front grille with copper elements, new alloy wheels, a tweaked tail lamp and redone bumpers at both ends. Measuring 4,200mm in length, the EV is also 205mm longer than the XUV300.

Mahindra XUV400 interior

Inside, the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 features the same dashboard layout as the XUV300, albeit wrapped in an all-black theme with copper accents. In terms of features, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, connected car technology with over 60+ connected features, a single-pane electric sunroof, auto AC, cruise control, 6 airbags, ESC, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a rearview camera.

Mahindra will offer the XUV400 in five vibrant colour choices: Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black, Arctic Blue, Everest White, and Infinity Blue.

Mahindra XUV400 launch timeline

Expect Mahindra to price the new XUV400 between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), pitting it against the likes of Tata Nexon EV MAX, MG ZS EV, and Hyundai Kona Electric.
