Mahindra XUV300 TGDI Sportz Spied In Production-Guise; Launch Likely On Oct 7

Mahindra is all set to launch the XUV300 with a new & more powerful 1.2-liter TGDI petrol engine on October 7, 2022. It is expected to be called Mahindra XUV300 TGDI (Sportz). Recently, the SUV was spied in a production-ready guise at the carmaker’s plant.

The leaked image revealed that Mahindra XUV300 with TGDI engine would receive a host of visual enhancements over the ongoing model, such as a gloss black grille with the brand’s new ‘Twin Peaks’ logo, red strips on the air dam, and new color options, including dual-tone mustard yellow shade with blacked out roof & ORVMs.

While the interior of the SUV is yet to be seen, we expect some minor cosmetic changes inside the cabin as well. It will perhaps get an all-black cabin with red-color inserts.

However, the key change will be beneath the hood. The XUV300 Sportz will be powered by a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine with direct-injection (DI) technology instead of the ongoing MPFI unit. This powermill was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and was rated at 130PS/230Nm, 10PS/30Nm more than its current turbo-petrol engine. Transmission options for this new model are yet to be revealed.

Expect the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 Sportz with TGDI engine to bear a significant price premium over the ongoing petrol variants that range between Rs 8.42 lakh to Rs 12.38 lakh for manual and Rs 10.51 lakh to Rs 12.69 lakh for the AMT versions. Once launched, it will go up against the likes of Hyundai Venue N-Line and Kia Sonet X-Line.

*All prices ex-showroom.
